After last’s week lightning strikes in Las Vegas against the Crashing Carrs I decided that I needed to watch this weeks game. That was a mistake. I should have turned the game off after the blocked punt on the opening drive but the Digiorno was already in the oven and I was locked in.

The cardinals failed to elicit any emotional response from me after the blocked punt.

Similar to my late Grandpa who passed away in the mid carnitas tacos order, The Cardinals couldn’t sustain the same pulse from the week prior and flatlined before they could put the pigskin in the oven failing to score a touchdown during the homestand. The cardinals might as well opt into playing in the grey visitors uniform while playing the Rams at home with Kliff commanding the oars and steering the rudder. And that’s not because the Rams have legal ownership over our domain under Sean McVay, having won 11 of 12 times in Arizona since becoming a head coach (tax jurisdictions unclear). No, it is because the Cardinals are incapable of producing any other color on the field. The Cardinals were all grey all over this weekend and at this point it is clear that this will not be the year that the Cardinals break the longest Championship drought in professional sports at 75 years. The biggest drought in Arizona isn’t the lack of water it’s the lack of Championships. Greta said the southwest has been in a drought for twenty years to which the AZsouthcentral News replied, “Boo Hoo Greta, AZ hasn’t won a major sport championship in 21 years and its been 75 for the Cardinals, we know our priorities.” I don’t always agree with Mainstream Media but right now it seems they are correct. The Cardinals left me feeling empty this weekend, longing for a quarterback that can stand under center and see over the line and not be forced to stay in shotgun. I found myself wondering if this was Kyler’s idea for the season after committing to a long term relationship with the team. In a way it reminds me of a common occurrence amongst shorter men when they ask their partner to not wear heels when they go out. I get it. It happens. Unfortunately, Kyler Murray yet again failed to average his height in yards per attempt coming in at 5.4ypa. This now marks the third consecutive game this season, the fourth consecutive game dating back to last season, and the first time Kyler has had 3 consecutive games in any season. If this trend continues Kyler Murray is going to lose performance ability in the new madden and that may be all the incentive he really needs to improve. There is not much to say about the performance this weekend even after running 81 plays to the Rams 46. All the little legs on the offense doesn’t necessitate little plays but that is where we seemingly find ourselves starting off 1-2 to the season. The Cardinals emit the color grey and our guiding Dortch is now dealing with an injury. It seems nothing can go right for the Cardinals this year.

Lastly, Kyler Murray claims that a Raiders fan had hit him in the face while he was celebrating an overtime victory in Las Vegas. NFL official review determined the hit was incidental contact and there was no flag on the play. The hand in question belonged to an unathletic man who drunkenly attempted to pat a modern day gladiator on the shoulder pad from the second row.

Trade of the Week: Kyler Murray

Kyler Murray’s career high streak of failing to surpass his height in ypa is another bad sign for anyone investing time in the Arizona Cardinals this season. If Kyler isn’t going to invest more time in watching film and learning how to dissect the defenses before him then we need more talent. Yes it is early but it is clear that Kyler’s legs can’t bear the weight of the team on his back and he needs outside help. Kyler Murray could put on a head banging performance with the right assets around him like Tua is doing in Miami but it’s up to Kliff and Keim to put those pieces around him. I guess even they thought Kyler would take his contract more seriously than he currently does. Kyler could be a great asset on another team that is built to win right now which is why he is this weeks trade of the week.

Highlight of the week: Deandre Hopkins once again preserved his body and is halfway done with his planned time off. I love a selfless player that does whatever he can do get on the field at the sacrifice of his own body. NUK will be a great addition to the team when he returns or to any team if we trade him.

Thoughts for the week ahead:

Is Darnell Dockett still alive?
